Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) was established in 1980 by the Vokkaligara Sangha, a well-known charitable trust based in Bengaluru. The college is affiliated with the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka, and is recognized by the Medical Council of India (now the National Medical Commission). 

KIMS offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in medicine and surgery and is one of the reputed private medical colleges in Karnataka.

The college admits 150 students every year for the MBBS program through NEET-UG, following the norms set by the NMC and RGUHS. In addition to the MBBS course, it offers MD and MS courses in various specialties with competitive admissions through NEET-PG.

1. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

The MBBS program at KIMS is a 5.5-year undergraduate course, which includes 4.5 years of academic instruction followed by a 1-year mandatory rotatory internship. 

The curriculum covers pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical subjects as per the NMC guidelines. Students receive hands-on training through clinical postings in KIMS and Vokkaligara Sangha hospitals.

The clinical training is conducted at the college's affiliated hospital.

Eligibility:

• Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with a minimum of 50% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC).

2. Doctor of Medicine (MD) / Master of Surgery (MS)

KIMS offers MD and MS programs in various clinical and non-clinical specializations such as General Medicine, Paediatrics, Anaesthesiology, Pathology, and General Surgery. 

These are 3-year postgraduate programs focused on advanced medical knowledge, research, and clinical expertise. Admissions are granted through centralized counselling based on NEET-PG scores.

The hospital campus is located in the VV Puram area, around 4 kilometers from the academic block, and serves as the primary center for clinical training and patient care.

KIMS also has well-equipped laboratories for anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology, and pharmacology to support hands-on learning.
