Kasturba Medical College (KMC) was established in 1953 by Dr. T.M.A. Pai under the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), making it one of India’s first private medical colleges. 

It gained recognition from the Medical Council of India in 1958 and has since maintained a strong reputation for medical education in India and abroad. KMC is consistently ranked among the top medical colleges in the country.

The college operates across two campuses, one in Manipal and another in Mangalore. The Manipal campus is the original and serves as the academic headquarters. It houses the basic science departments and pre-clinical training. The Mangalore campus handles clinical training and is affiliated with several teaching hospitals across the city, providing practical exposure to medical students from the third year onward.

KMC is part of MAHE, an Institution of Eminence recognized by the Government of India. Its degrees are recognized by global bodies such as the General Medical Council of the UK and the ECFMG in the USA.

1. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

2. Doctor of Medicine (MD) / Master of Surgery (MS)
