K S Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA) was established in 1999 by the Nitte Education Trust, founded by the late Justice K S Hegde, a former Speaker of the Lok Sabha and Judge of the Supreme Court of India. 

The academy was created to offer quality medical education and to meet the growing demand for healthcare professionals in the region. It is affiliated with NITTE (Deemed to be University), which is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Medical Council of India (now the National Medical Commission).

The college offers undergraduate (MBBS), postgraduate (MD/MS), super speciality (DM/MCh), and doctoral programs in various medical and health science disciplines. It is recognised for its integrated curriculum, clinical exposure, and active focus on research.

KSHEMA operates across two campuses in Deralakatte, a suburb of Mangalore. The main academic campus houses the college building, administrative offices, and academic departments. 1. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

The MBBS program is a 5.5-year course including one year of mandatory rotating internship. It covers pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical subjects, ensuring comprehensive training in general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and other specialties. Students gain hands-on experience through clinical postings and training at Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital.

Eligibility:

• 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English with at least 50% marks (40% for SC/ST/OBC).
• Must qualify NEET-UG.
• Minimum age: 17 years by 31st December of the year of admission.

2. Doctor of Medicine (MD) / Master of Surgery (MS)

The MD/MS programs are 3-year postgraduate courses offered in various specializations such as General Medicine, Pediatrics, Pathology, Anesthesiology, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and others. The curriculum includes academic learning, clinical rotations, case presentations, and research activities.

• Annual Fee: ₹15,50,000 to ₹30,00,000 (depending on the specialization)

Eligibility:

• MBBS degree from a recognised medical college with a one-year internship completed before 31st March of the admission year.

3. Master of Chirurgiae (MCh)
