BMSCE Courses at a Glance

1. Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.)

The flagship four-year B.E. programme runs across eight semesters and is the heart of BMSCE. It covers the engineering sciences in depth while building branch-specific professional skills through labs, projects and internships. Branches on offer include Computer Science and Engineering, Information Science and Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, and Medical Electronics.

Admission needs 10+2 with English as a compulsory language and a minimum of 45% aggregate in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Electronics or Biotechnology as an optional subject. Seats are filled through KCET, COMEDK UGET and JEE Main, besides the management quota. Computer Science and allied branches are the most competitive each year.

2. B.E. Lateral Entry

Diploma holders in engineering can join the B.E. programme directly in the second year through lateral entry, completing the degree in three years. Eligibility follows the AICTE and VTU norms for diploma-to-degree admission, with branch mapping based on the diploma specialisation.

3. Master of Technology (M.Tech)

The two-year M.Tech programme offers specialisations across the core and emerging engineering departments, with a strong research component through dissertation work in the second year. Admission requires a B.E. or B.Tech degree with at least 50% marks and a valid GATE or Karnataka PGCET score.

4. Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The two-year MBA at BMSCE prepares engineers and graduates from other streams for management roles, with the programme admitting students through KMAT, CMAT, MAT or Karnataka PGCET scores. A bachelor's degree with 50% aggregate is the qualifying requirement.

5. Master of Computer Applications (MCA)

The two-year MCA programme focuses on software development, systems and applications, admitting graduates through KMAT or Karnataka PGCET. It suits students aiming for IT careers who want a postgraduate credential in computing.

6. Ph.D. and M.Sc (Engg.)

BMSCE is a recognised research centre under VTU, offering doctoral and M.Sc (Engineering) by research across its departments. Admission follows VTU regulations for research programmes.
