Note: 2026 paper was moderate-to-tough, which slightly eases rank pressure. Projections lean slightly more accessible than 2025.
Now mapping ranks to marks using the standard COMEDK marks-vs-rank table:
- Rank 3000–5500 → ~115–128 marks
- Rank 5000–6000 → ~110–118 marks
- Rank 9000–11000 → ~100–108 marks
- Rank 14000–17000 → ~92–100 marks
- Rank 21000–28000 → ~83–92 marks
- Rank 45000–55000 → ~68–78 marks
The table below gives branch-wise expected closing ranks and the minimum marks you need to score in COMEDK 2026 to have a realistic chance of securing a seat at DSCE.

| Biotechnology Engineering | 68 – 78 | 45,000 – 58,000 |
How We Calculated These Numbers
Here is exactly what we looked at and how we arrived at these estimates, so you know these are not just guesses.
Step 1: We pulled three years of official DSCE COMEDK closing ranks.
DSCE’s CSE closing rank in the 2024 final round was 5,873, and in 2023 it was 3,272. In 2025 Round 4, the CSE closing rank for the GM category was between 3,609 and 5,479.
For AIML, the Round 1 closing rank in 2025 was 4,299. Civil Engineering’s Round 1 closing rank in 2025 was 25,041. These are the anchor numbers we built everything from.
Step 2: We looked at the direction each branch is heading.
CSE showed a rise in cutoff rank from 3,272 in 2023 to 5,873 in 2024 (meaning slightly easier to get in), then tightened again in 2025 with a final round closing rank of around 5,479.
AIML and Data Science are in the second most competitive group at DSCE, with closing ranks typically in the 800–3,000 range for top COMEDK colleges and within 3,000–5,000 for DSCE specifically. ECE, EEE, and Mechanical have remained relatively stable year on year.
Step 3: We factored in the 2026 exam difficulty.
COMEDK 2026 was conducted on May 9 and the paper leaned toward moderate to tough, with students struggling with lengthy Physics and Math questions.
This is expected to push marks down, meaning the same rank can now be achieved with slightly fewer marks compared to 2025. That is why the mark ranges we show are slightly more accessible than what a 2025 benchmark would give you.
Step 4: We converted ranks to marks using the standard COMEDK marks-vs-rank pattern.
A score of 120–130 marks typically results in a rank between 2,000 and 5,000, making this range relevant for CSE and AIML at DSCE. A score around 100–110 marks usually gets you into the 3,000–8,000 rank band, which covers ECE at DSCE.
For branches like Mechanical, Civil, and EEE that close at higher ranks (15,000–28,000), the required marks drop to the 80–100 range. A student scoring between 80 and 89 marks can expect a rank between 14,001 and 21,000.
What Students Should Keep in Mind
DSCE is consistently among the top 5 COMEDK colleges in Karnataka. DSCE stands out for its wider branch availability, with CSE expected to close around rank 5,200 in 2026, making it a popular choice for students with mid-range ranks.
This means even if you miss CSE by a few hundred ranks, you have a strong shot at AIML, ISE, or Data Science, which have comparable placement outcomes.
The numbers you see from Round 1 counselling are always lower (more competitive) than the final round. Seats that go unfilled across rounds are re-allotted, which often pushes closing ranks higher in the final round. The table above uses final round estimates, so they are more practical for planning.
How To Get Admission In DSCE With Low Rank?
COMEDK is not the only way to get admission in Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering. Every year, DSCE also keeps limited seats under management quota and direct admission categories for students who are unable to secure a good COMEDK rank. So, even if your rank is low or you missed the expected cutoff, there are still chances to get admission in your preferred branch depending on seat availability.
If you are planning to take admission in DSCE and want proper guidance regarding eligibility, fees, available branches, cutoff expectations, or direct admission process, we at GCS Online can help you throughout the complete process.
